The Rankin County Democratic Executive Committee hosted a lunch at the home of Joy and Tom Williams on the Reservoir. Thanks you, Joy and Tom, for having us at your beautiful home! Joy showed off her hats that she will wear at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia later this month.

The Rankin County Federation of Democratic Women met to have a potluck dinner and business meeting. During the meeting, the Federation recognized Joy Williams for her election as a delegate to the national convention, Sue Livingston for being elected as a presidential elector, and Thelma Lorentz and Rita Duvall for being elected to the state executive committee. Congratulations to all! The group was fired up and ready to go elect Democrats up and down the ballot in November!

At our June 9 meeting, Augustine Kelly of Pearl was honored for her longtime service to the Rankin County Democratic Party. She has served on the county committee for many years, even serving as county chair. We are so happy to honor her with this award.

At our June breakfast, we had Democrats from across Rankin County join us to discuss how to move our party forward and ensure victory in November! Our monthly breakfasts at the Flowood Corner Bakery are open to the public. All are welcome to join us!

The Mississippi Democratic Party held its 2016 Jefferson Jackson Hamer Dinner on May 20, and the turnout was outstanding! Democrats from across the state came out to hear from our keynote speaker Burns Strider and were pumped up to do our part to ensure a Democratic victory in November!

The Party held its state convention on May 21 at the Jackson Convention Complex where hundreds of Democrats met to elect delegates to the national convention and other important offices. Rankin County is proud to have John L. Stevenson re-elected to the state executive committee and Sue Livingston elected to serve as the 3rd Congressional District elector to the Electoral College. We are so proud of them and excited about this opportunity for them to serve!

Third Congressional District Convention

Democrats from across the Third Congressional District met at the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum to elect members of the state executive committee and delegates to the Democratic National Convention. Rankin County scored big wins as Joy Williams was elected as a delegate to the national convention; Thelma Lorentz, Pam Johnson, and Ryan Brown were elected to the state executive committee. Thanks to all of our delegates and alternates for standing together to elect Rankin County Democrats to these important positions!

Breakfast with Democrats

Join us for breakfast on Saturday, May 7, at the Flowood Corner Bakery on Lakeland Drive. We will discuss the upcoming state convention and the JJH dinner. The breakfast gets underway at 8:30 am in the event room. All are welcome!

Jefferson-Jackson-Hamer Dinner

The biggest fundraising event for Mississippi Democrats will be held on Friday, May 20, at the downtown Jackson Marriott. This year’s keynote speaker is Mississippi’s own Burns Strider. Voter Registration

The voter registration deadline for the 2016 election cycle is October 8 at noon. Let us each make a personal goal to get at least two voters registered before the deadline. It is up to each of us to get out the vote in our families, neighborhoods, and churches. Rankin County registration forms must be mailed to Post Office Box 1599, Brandon, MS 39043 or hand-delivered to 215 E. Government Street, Brandon, MS 39042. Call the circuit clerk at 601-825-1466 for any questions about voter registration.

Rankin County Democrats attended the 3rd Congressional District Convention at the Mississippi Agriculture Museum to elect delegates to the Democratic National Convention and to the state executive committee. Join Rankin County Democrats on Saturday, April 2, for our monthly breakfast. We will hear a presentation about the upcoming Congressional District convention and how the process works. This will take place in the event room at the Flowood Corner Bakery on Lakeland Drive, beginning at 8:30 am. Bring a friend!

Rankin County Democrats will meet on Thursday, April 7, at 6:00 pm in the Rankin County Board of Supervisors boardroom in downtown Brandon. At this meeting, the executive committee will elect officers for the 2016-2020 term and discuss our path forward as a party. There will be additional discussions about the convention process. This event is open to all Democrats. Please reply to this email with any questions about the meeting.
