Absentee Voting Deadline
Nov 3 @ 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

Today is the final day to vote absentee. Stop by the Circuit Clerk’s office in downtown Brandon to cast your ballot. If you have any questions about voting absentee, call 601-825-1466.

You may vote absentee if you meet any of the following criteria:

  • you will be away from your county on Election Day for any reason;
  • you are a student, teacher, or administrator at a school whose studies or employment there necessitates your absence from your county on Election Day; or you are the spouse or dependent thereof;
  • you have a temporary or permanent physical disability that renders you unable to vote in person without substantial hardship;
  • you are the parent, spouse, or dependent of a person with a temporary or permanent physical disability who is hospitalized outside of their county of residence or more than fifty (50) miles away, and you (the parent, spouse or dependent) will be with that person on Election Day;
  • you are sixty-five (65) years of age or older;
  • you will be unable to vote in person because you are required to be at work on Election Day during the times at which the polls will be open;
  • you are a member, spouse, or dependent of the congressional delegation;
  • you are a disabled war veteran (or spouse or dependant of such a person) in a hospital;
  • you are a member (or spouse or dependant of such a person) of the Merchant Marine or American Red Cross.

If necessary, a runoff election will be held for the United States Senate. Candidates TBD.

There will also be judicial runoff elections as well. Candidates TBD.

Note – Ms. Grace Logan, founding member and past Vice Chair and Treasurer has agreed to Chair our Nominating Committee. Her committee will present a Slate of potential Officer choices and we will hold our Officer Election on Nov. 27th. 
 
Joy Williams our current Vice-President and Program Chair will be sending an official invitation to our Members to sign up for our December Holiday Luncheon, (location: Old Capitol Inn, Jackson) which will be held on Thursday, December 13th. We ask any Members and friends who plan to attend to pay for their Luncheon prior to or at our November 27th meeting. Please contact Joy Williams or Elouise McLaughlin to organize your payments.
 
Please note: we will hold our new Officers Installation Ceremony at our December Holiday Luncheon on Thursday, December 13th. the new officers will assume their positions effective January 2019, beginning a two year term. All members and new Officers are strongly encouraged to join our luncheon party and also plan on attending the Tour of the MS Civil Rights Museum directly following our Luncheon, (there is an additional Cost for the tour – Group rate at the Museum).
